If you haven’t heard Gibson one of the last American and World’s best manufacturers of Guitars and other stringed instruments has been under attack for a while now.

The Federal Government is saying that the bridge boards / “keyboard area on the neck” of their guitars are being made out of wood that is imported illegally…

However it gets better the Indian Government where it is grown has already checked the wood and marked it ok for export.

The real controversy is that the wood is imported in chunks that are about 3 inches wide and 2 feet long. Cut just right for starting the manufacture of necks for their guitars.

The Obama Administration says if all of the work was done in India then they could import the completed part but because it is precut wood blanks it falls within some idiot act that restricts its Import…

IT GETS BETTER there are other American Guitar makers that import the exact same wood but they are not being shutdown….. These makers contribute to the President’s reelection campaign. Whether you voted for him or not .. you have to admit its pretty scummy to go after good people just because they won’t pay protection money… 

The fact is if Gibson chose to have all of the work performed in India they would lose about 40 of their best Craftsmen.. people that have a skill that is so great that it can not be duplicated anywhere else in the world…. think about it EVERY Musical Group in the past 100 years has used a Gibson Guitar or other instrument and they could use a knockoff or an import… but they don’t because they know the sound can not be matched anywhere else.
